OUR Community Currency Inc. issues OUR Community Dollars as a marketing program to pre approved groups and organizations. OUR Community Currency Inc. does not retail currency to the end user.
Community currency has been deemed as acceptable currency by the parties participating in the community currency concept. All rules and regulations governing financial transactions must be observed in the application of OUR Community Dollar currency. For example, wages paid, products purchased or services acquired with OUR Community Dollars should have applicable taxes and reporting applied.
It is interesting to note that in community currency systems, such as those in Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, and Ithaca, New York, some banks and credit unions accept community currency for payment of service charges and other fees.
The OUR Community Dollar is secured by the products and services available within the community of entrepreneurs participating in the OUR Community Dollar program. OUR Community Dollar currency is not secured by federal currency.
OUR Community Currency Inc. assumes no liability in the transactions or exchanges of products or services. All dealings between the consumers and the merchants or service providers will be solely the responsibility of the two parties. OUR Community Currency Inc. makes no claims nor does it endorse individual merchants or consumers. Both parties hereby expressly indemnify and hold harmless OUR Community Currency Inc. and its representatives with respect to loss, damages, or claims resulting from transactions and exchanges.
Inter-Regional Exchanges
As new regions of OUR Community Dollar currencies are developed, members of each region will be able to accept transactions with the various versions of the OUR Community Dollar currency.
Members who do not live in an established region may accept any version of OUR Community Dollar currency.
Acceptance ofOUR Community Dollars
It is possible that citizens who are not registered with a participating organization or business may accept OUR Community Dollars in trade. This may occur at garage sales, church bazaars, markets, or other events. It is not a requirement that vendors or consumers need be members of an affiliate group or business in order to trade with OUR Community Dollars.
The Blended Exchange Concept
OUR Community Currency Inc. understands that merchants and service providers require federal currency to maintain operations. To that end, participating businesses should clearly identify what percentage of community currency could be accepted in the involved transactions.
Participating businesses can list their offerings on the merchant databank hosted at www.communitydollar.com. The listing should clearly state the percentage of acceptance of OUR Community Dollars.
Terms of Sales
Vendors reserve the right to change their terms of interaction at any time. Transactions are not necessarily applied in conjunction with sales or other promotions. Please contact the merchant directly for information on levels of acceptance of OUR Community Dollars.
Affiliate Groups
OUR Community Currency Inc. assumes no responsibility or liability for the transactions or activities of groups and organizations participating in the OUR Community Dollar program. All dealings between the organizations and participants of those programs will be solely the responsibility of the two parties. OUR Community Currency Inc. makes no claim or endorsement of individual organizations nor does it endorse individual members of those groups. Both parties hereby expressly indemnify and hold harmless OUR Community Currency Inc. and its representatives with respect to loss, damages, or claims resulting from transactions and exchanges.
